Vintage 1930s Frank Palma Originals Tilt Black Felt Hat Bird 。ATTENTION COLLECTORS: This is a ONE-OF-A-KIND \"FRANK PALMA ORIGINALS\" It is a small straw and feather tilt toy hat which is worn in a tilted position. The small crown looks like a tiny tophat made of very fine straw, decorated on top with a small straw bow. The short brim is covered in pink feathers.On the front right of the brim there is a feather \'flower\' with 2 green fabric leaves.To keep the hat in a tilted position, at the back there is a wire circle covered in the same straw. Tilt hats were very small hats that perched on the very front of the forehead, they were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. Designer Frank Palma worked from at least the late 1930s - 1950s. His earlier label is \"Frank Palma Originals.\" All examples of the hats under this label have been of the toy tilt variety that was so popular at the end of the 1930s to early 1940s. HATS OF THIS LABEL ARE INCREDIBLY HARD TO COME BY. Most of his hats incorporate some version of a bird or feathers. This hat is in wonderful vintage condition and has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
