Vintage 60。Exceptional vintage popcorn knit beret featuring a sculptural, heavily textured construction and original pom pom crown. This is not a standard knit cap — it is a true mid-century boutique import piece with strong visual identity and collectible value. The interior label carries RN 37460, identifying The Jay Co., a known mid-to-late 20th century fashion importer associated with curated retail and later connected to Jay Jacobs. Pieces bearing this RN are increasingly recognized within vintage circles, particularly when paired with distinctive construction like this example. Executed in a saturated, high-impact red tone — a notably harder-to-find colorway compared to the more common black and white versions — this beret delivers both rarity and presence. The exaggerated popcorn knit creates depth, dimension, and a dramatic silhouette when worn. Material is 100 percent acrylic fiber, typical of the era’s structured knitwear, allowing the hat to hold its shape while remaining comfortable and wearable. Condition is very good vintage condition. Knit remains full, dimensional, and intact with strong color. No structural issues. Light, age-appropriate wear only, consistent with a well-preserved piece of this era. This piece sits at the intersection of 1960’s mod, French-inspired styling, and collectible mid-century accessories. Ideal for collectors, stylists, or buyers seeking a standout vintage statement with documented RN provenance.
