Mayfair Fedora Hat | Dark Brown Wool Men。This is a beautiful brown felt fedora from the fashionable 1940s\'. The crown\'s shape is conical, and features intricate cuts and gathers running diagonally. The top is the crown is separate from the rest, and is gathered by a narrow band of felt. The brim is wide and flexible, partially covering one eye. There are narrow brown and orange felt bands twisted together and placed around the crown. At one side of the crown there is a bow from where some orange feathers plus a long, curvy pheasant feather emerge. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to help keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.
